## About

Shri Kailasagiri Guhantara Devalaya, commonly known as Kailasagiri Cave Temple, is the largest man-made cave temple built in the last 1,000 years. Spanning over 20,000 square feet within a 16-acre temple complex, this monumental sacred site is located at Kavalaganahalli in the Ambajidurga Hill Range, Chintamani Taluk, Chikkaballapura District, Karnataka, India. The temple began with the vision of Sri Chowda Reddy in 1991 during a severe regional drought; the Sri Gangadhareshwara Seva Trust was established and the first deity consecrated in 1994. Its sculptural masterwork was designed and executed by the renowned master sculptor Late Sri S.M. Ganapathi Stapathi in the authentic Chola-Pallava tradition.

The temple houses nine principal deities carved directly into the cave rock. The presiding deity is Shri Chaturmukha Lingeshwara Swamy, a four-faced Shiva Linga that is the spiritual heart of the complex. Other enshrined deities include Vallabha Ganapathi, Goddess Jagadambe, Nataraja, Vishnu, KalaSamhara Murthy, Ardha Nareeshwara, Lakshmi, Saraswathi, and a Swayambhu Linga. Each shrine is sculpted in the authentic Chola-Pallava tradition, making the cave temple a living testament to India's sacred architectural heritage.

Kailasagiri Cave Temple is a major pilgrimage destination located approximately 80 km from Bangalore and 7 km from the historic town of Kaiwara. The temple serves over 400 devotees daily through its Anna Danam (free meals) program and offers a range of sevas, pujas, darshan, accommodation, and festival celebrations including the grand Maha Shivaratri, monthly Masa Shivaratri, Karthika Pournami, and Girija Kalyana. Donations to the trust qualify for tax benefits under Section 80G of the Indian Income Tax Act.
